Hawks fall to the Dogs

Today was a long SOL test day for all so I will keep this short.
We had our struggles, but......

Good news for us-
Everyone got in the game.
Tyler Bliss continued his hitting streak, and he walked as well.
Liam Timothy threw 2 more innings without giving up an earned run. His streak is up to 6 innings.
Will Gelvin reached base every time he came to the plate. He also scored a run.

Hawks come up just short verse Bull Run

The Baseball Boys made significant strides from our last game. We had harder contact, by far. We had way less strikeouts and our pitchers threw more strikes.
Unfortunately, we had some bad luck by several hard-hit balls went right to them. Just tough luck. We did give away a couple of runs with some defensive lapses. The good news is, we corrected those lapses mid game and the same players made some nice plays.
Liam Timothy again had our only 2 runs batted in to go with his 2 hits. Mason Reynolds added 2 hits, one of which was a double to the fence. He scored a run as well. Garrett Brown had our other hit. We did reach base via a walk 5 times too.
Our pitching was very good. Gavin Clancy went 4 innings giving up just 1 earned run. He finished really strong which set up Caleb Rife to close the game out the last 3 innings. He gave up just 1 hit and zero runs.
We look to keep improving as we travel crosstown to Marsteller on Thursday.

Reagan over our Hawks

Your Hawks went to Reagan yesterday and after a lengthy delay awaiting umpires, they came out and fought evenly for a few innings.
Unfortunately, the game lasted longer than that and we could not recover from some mistakes and some missed opportunities.
Our pitchers hit the middle part of the plate a bit too often and Reagan took advantage of that. Also, our defense made some miscues which led to 7 of Reagan's runs. A combination which is hard to overcome verse a solid team like the Mustangs.
Having a good day with the bat was Garret Brown who had 2 hits plus a walk. He scored one of our two runs. Scoring the other run, having been on base twice with 2 walks, was Tyler Bliss. Driving in our runs was Liam Timothy who had a hit and 2 RBI's. Also getting a hit were Gavin Clancy, Logan Fish, and Mason Reynolds.
We will work hard the erst of this week for our two games next week.

Hawks over Mustangs

Congratulations goes out to the Hawks baseball team on their 6-0 win over an improved Metz team at Metz. We finally got our first game in.
It started with a late bus pick up and a mess up with our ball bucket. We were unable to od a full warm up once we got there due to time.
However, Gavin Clancy (2 innings 4 K's), Tyler Bliss (2 innings 4 K's), and Liam Timothy (2 innings 3 K's 0 walks) all made sure things ended well by pretty much keeping the Mustangs off the bases allowing only 2 hits.
Our defense played very well highlighted by a relay at the plate in the 1st inning to keep the Mustangs from taking an early lead. Garrett Brown made the final throw to get the out at home on that relay ended by a nice catch and tag by Dylan McInerney.  Garrett, who played 3 positions,  also made the final throw on a double play ball to end the game thanks to a nice pick at first by Xander Nepomuceno.
Leading the way the bats ware Logan Fish and Tyler Bliss.  Logan had 2 hits (including a double) and 3 RBI's. Tyler had 2 hits (including a double) and drove in a run as well. Also collecting a hit were Mason Reynolds and Garrett Brown.
The Hawks travel to undefeated Reagan on Tuesday, we hope to see you there!
