2019-2020 Concussion Training Information, Physicals, and Fall Tryout Dates

Middle school parents and students who are trying out for a sport for their first time in middle school or are new to Prince William County Public Schools, must attend a face to face concussion training at a PWCS middle school prior to tryouts. Concussion training for the fall at GVMS will be Thursday, August 22nd at 6:00pm in the gym. Concussion training is good for that school year and does not carry over from previous school years.

If you've attended a concussion training for middle school in the past, you can log into the online concussion website, and plug in your student ID number and take the training online. The certificate at the completion of the training must be printed off, signed, and handed in to Mr. Grinnell, Athletic Director. No concussion training = no tryouts.

Along with concussion training, a valid sports physical must be completed by a doctor for an athlete to participate - Must be 5/1/19 or later.
Physicals can be done at personal physicians.  Gainesville Middle School hosts Sports Physicals on August 22, from 3-4:30 p.m. in the gym. Cost at school will be $25.

Physical form can be found below, and will be the only accepted form. No physical = no tryouts.

Concussion training form and physical must be handed in prior to tryout for desired sport.  Both of these are good for the entire 2019-20 school year.

Fall sports tryouts for Boys Soccer, Football, Girls Volleyball, Girls Track  will begin Wednesday, August 28.

Tryouts will run a minimum of three days from 3-5 p.m. Students may be picked up those days or they can ride an activity bus home. Tryout days will be the only days that activity buses are provided.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Mr. Grinnell, Athletic Director, at .

The schedule of all middle school concussion training dates can be found on the PWCS website - middle school students must attend a middle school presentation, and it can be done at any middle school in the county. High school trainings do not count.
