6/7/2020 Lesson 6: Yearly Reflection

Well here we are! Usually, around this time of year, we would be asking you to reflect on your growth through your performances, and growth through sight reading and other in class skills. I know that this has been a very different year, but we would like to do the same. In an email to me, please answer these four questions.

What was your highlight of the year?

What do you think you did really well this year?

What is something that you need to work on going into next year?

What are you most looking forward to next year?

We hope you had a great year in chorus with us and can't wait to see you grow again next year. Until then, be good, stay safe, and keep singing!!

5/4/2020 Lesson 3: Star Wars

MAY The FOURTH Be With You!

This lesson uses the free Songmaker which is part of the Chrome Music Lab. The Songmaker allows students to click on a grid to add melodic or rhythmic sounds. Press the play button to hear your creation. In these Star Wars lessons, students will create their own version of the main Star Wars Theme by John Williams, using the Chrome Music Lab Songmaker.

There are multiple levels: (all levels are hyperlinked)

● Padawan

● Jedi Knight

● Jedi Master

● Jedi Master II

Student template files and saving:

I have set up a student template file for each level. The template gives them a starting point - the Settings are already in place and some of the melody and/or bassline is already included. The template file is simply a link which you can send to your students. Students will open the template file and then add notes to it to create their version of the Star Wars theme.

To save:

● Once they’ve finished, they will click Save

● On the next screen they can click Copy Link (1) and send that link to the teacher

● Additionally, there are options to download a WAV file (3) if they would like to keep an audio file version of their piece, or a MIDI file (2) which can be used in another software program like GarageBand, Soundtrap or Bandlab

4/27/2020: Cover Songs (Story of My Life)

Hello kiddos!
This now marks week #2 of Virtual Learning! Like last weeks lesson, this weeks lesson will be hyperlinked on the title and on the bottom of the lesson explanation.

For this lesson, I want you to think of the  first lesson OR new songs that you want to be in your soundtracks of your life. I want you to find 5 of your favorite song covers and post the URL link! Share your favorite songs and tell us why you chose these covers.

For this lesson we will be searching for the definition and videos of cover songs.

Cover songs means the  remake,  revival, or simply cover of  a performance or recording by someone other than the original artist or composer of a previously recorded song.

***Make sure you choose songs you like, you will have an assignment which will require you to sing one of them***
