I am excited to start the adventure of learning about Life Science with you!
This is the class where we put our problem solving skills to work. We will be studying all about cells, plants and animals, genetics, ecology and more.
This is my second year at Gainesville Middle School teaching Life Science.
I have taught in both Wisconsin and Illinois over the past 16 years in
middle school, high school and college.
Each student will be assessed in a variety of methods in order to determine that the student has achieved the standards.
A 90% B 80% C 70% D 60% F 59% and below
Students are to bring the following supplies to class every day.
- Notebook (100+ pages, 8 ½ x 11 inches, where a piece of copy paper can be glued in without being cut down)
- Small bottle of glue or glue sticks
- Colored pencils or Thin markers
* Science Fair Supply - Large or Medium Trifold Display Board
I expect my students to work cooperatively and politely with their classmates and take care and clean up after themselves. I will enforce GVMS policy.
Each student will be responsible for creating and maintaining an interactive notebook. It will be used daily and students will be expected to have it in class every day. Students will be expected to participate in class on a daily basis. Students will raise their hands and wait to be called upon before answering. Each student will be responsible for completing and turning in assigned homework, projects, interactive notebooks, etc. at the beginning of class on the date they are due.
Labs will be done following OSHA Laboratory Safety Rules outlined in the Laboratory Safety Guidelines and Contract that was sent home and signed by a parent/guardian.
Time will be given for most assignments to be completed at school. I ask that for homework, students review their notes, study by using the links to review games and other activities as well as discussing what they have learned with their families. The major exception to this will be the Science Investigation (Fair) Project. More information will be given on this at a later date.
Students will be given one copy of the assignment. If a student loses their copy they are to print off a new copy from my class page. When a student returns from an absence they are to collect any notes, lab sheets or worksheets, complete the assignments and turn them in.
