Welcome to Gainesville Middle School's 2016 - 2017 Friends of Rachel Club!
Rachel Joy Scott was a dynamic and unique girl of 17 who believed in spreading kindness and acceptance to those around her. Rachel was a student at Columbine High School in Colorado during the April 21, 1999 school shooting. Sadly, Rachel lost her life that day but her life and legacy live on in her diary writings and personal essays.
Our FOR Club's purpose is to continue Rachel's legacy of kindness and compassion by making a conscious effort to apply her philosophy in our school's climate. We do this by making thank you cards for staff members, recognizing others for acts of kindness, giving our members weekly challenges to say hi to every student that see, making posters for our sports teams, inviting students to sit with our members at lunch, and reaching out to everyone in kindness and compassion. Please visit Rachel's Challenge to read more about Rachel.
This year, we are meeting twice a month in Ms. Lauck's room 1203. If you are interested in joining, please fill out a permission form and plan to meet us for our next meeting!
Permission forms are available in the Counseling Office for the 2016 -2017 school year. Please see the calendar page for our meetings dates.
