Instructor: Coach Goode and Coach Baker
First off want to say that every parent signed their kid out today that did not ride the bus so I want to say thank you for that, as that takes a big load off of me. Wanted to say thanks first, because I am going to say sorry next...I completely forgot to hand out all the picture forms today. So here is the link to their form http://vosphoto.com/wp-content/uploads/VOS_Sports_8x11-Flyer_2016-2017.pdf That is a PDF, so if you want to print that off and bring it in that is fine. Or if you just want to look at the different packages and give them cash or a check then the boys will just need to fill out the forms I have with their basic information. Checks need to be made payable to Victor O'Neill Studios. Credit Cards are also accepted as well. I am completely sorry for not having a physical copy already with the boys, don't know where my mind was today. Thanks though for your cooperation in this matter. Please make sure they have their jerseys tomorrow as well. A write up will be posted below here later.
The boys took their talents to Manassas to try and rebound and get their season back on track. Field events got off another mediocre start but still had some solid numbers much like the last meet. Justin Harris stopped once again after he defeated everyone else in the high jump, claiming 1st, clearing 4'11". Jakari just missed on 2nd place, claiming 3rd in shot put with a throw of 35'7". And Josh Mao and Aiden Fries got 2nd and 3rd in the long jump with jumps of 15'6" and 13'10". After field we were down 7 points so there was some work to be done.
Andy Safo and Jacob Meador got 2nd and 3rd in the hurdles and we just lost to them in the in Sprint Medley. So that put us down by 13. But that was the biggest margin for either team moving forward as we started gaining ground. Justin Harris and Michael Cotter got 1st and 2nd in the 55M. Jakari Lewis and Josh Mao got 1st and 2nd in the 100M. After those two events, we were up by 1, then it was like a heavyweight bout...going blow for blow. From that point forward there were 2 ties and 3 lead changes. So it was neck and neck. It all came down to the final two events. We were down 2 points with the 200M and 4 x 400 relay left. Michael Cotter and Jakari Lewis stepped up big time claiming 1st and 2nd in the 200M. That guaranteed us no worse than a tie as we were up 55-50. With the relays being worth 5 or nothing the pressure was on and once again the boys stepped up and ran an awesome race. Both relays teams beat their team to lock up the 60-50 win.
Other big moments were our 4 x 100 team - Jakari Lewis, Zach Cerreta, Sean McGregor and Justin Harris winning 1st.
Brock Marshall and Chris Shankle getting 2nd and 3rd in the mile.
Isaac Stuart and Ben Oviedo getting 2nd and the 3rd in the 400M.
