Announcement 6/9/2020:

Week 9 work is posted in the Work at Home folder. 

Office Hours: 
Thursdays 1:30-3pm

**During office hours, I will be available for immediate help via Zoom from 1:30-2:00 and via email or on Teams chat in Office 365 from 2:00-3:00. At all other times, I am still able to be reached by email, but may not respond right away.  The Zoom code will be the same every week, and it was emailed to parents and students on 4/29/20.

Below are the topics we will review each week from now until the end of the school year. All lessons/activities will be posted in my "Work at Home" folder by 10 am on Tuesday of each school week.

Week 1: April 14-17 Genre identification/Connotation/Denotation 

Week 2: April 20-24 Figurative language & Extended metaphors/Imagery 

Week 3: April 27-May 1 Text features

Week 4: May 4-8 Author's Organizational Patterns 

Week 5: May 11-15 STAR writing-sentence types, parts of speech

Week 6: May 18-22 Elements of fiction: point of view, setting, character  

Week 7: May 26-29 Elements of fiction: conflict, plot, theme

Week 8: June 1-5 Main Idea & Summary

Week 9: June 8-12 Context Clues

Other important announcements:
* Third quarter ends April 24th.  

* All work in 4th quarter is ungraded and optional.  You can find the weekly assignments if you click Work at Home on the left-hand side of the page.
* If you have any questions, please feel free to email me any time and I will get back to you as soon as possible. 
* As always, please read at least 20 minutes a day.  Share what you read with a parent.
* Parents and students please see the Year at a Glance document on the Instructional Calendar page on the left hand side of the screen to see the standards that have already been covered this year.
* You can find additional distance learning activities on the left hand side of the page under PWCS Home Learning Course Materials.

Although PWCS is unable to provide instruction or class assignments to students while schools remain closed, our School Division hopes that the suggestions for optional learning activities posted here will help parents support student learning until schools re-open. Please remember that use of these materials and participation in these activities are optional and neither grades nor course credit will be awarded.

Go to the Work at Home folder and scan the QR Code for the Flipgrid or click on the link. 
All you need is your student login. 
There is also a document in the folder with separate links for each challenge in case you would like to complete the challenges offline.

We can't wait to see your Flipgrid responses and reconnect with you in the virtual world!
