Hi everyone! I hope you are staying healthy and reading everyday.  Remember, you can read to your family, read to a pet or read to a stuffed animal if you want to read aloud.  My dog Ranger loves to hear me read when we sit on the deck each morning.  I have been adding things to the Work at Home folder, and you should take a look.  I also added a Storyline Online link to my page and will post a new story every Wednesday.  When you can, click on this blog and write to me.  I'd love to know all the interesting things you have been up to. Miss you, Mrs Seymour

Good morning, everybody! I just wanted to touch base and let you know that I've graded everything I've received.  Several of you (most of you) still have not turned in your Project #2.  Don't forget you guys still need to turn that in!  I only have a couple of submissions.  They're now past due, and students who have not yet turned it in have an NHI.  That doesn't mean you can't still turn it in!  I'm happy to take late submissions and grade them as they come in.  You have until 4/14.  Please turn your projects into this folder here. Make sure that, unless it's a website, you're not using a link but the actual FILE I need to view your project.  Thanks!   Also, another reminder that the final thing you need to complete, that is mandatory, for my class is your next Project Exploration.  Again, it's not due until 4/14 but it may be a good idea to at least work on it a bit at a time.     I hope that everybody is finding the positives in being home, and that you are taking this time to be with your families and take social distancing seriously.  Hopefully this rain will let up soon so we can get outside! Please feel free to contact me with any questions.  Miss you guys already! Mrs. Kraus   PS--if any of you are having difficulty with internet connection, please shoot me an email and we can work out an alternative option for you to get that final grade.  I'm flexible! PPS--I have sent this out as an email and also added it as an announcement on my Teams page.

Hello! I hope you are all doing well. As we won't see each other again in the classroom this year, I am looking for ways to interact. I will be posting a daily math "conversation." Today I will post a "Which One Doesn't Belong?" image. Please think carefully about which one doesn't belong and comment. Your comments should be in complete sentences with proper grammar and punctuation. And please remember that this is a school web page, so keep your comments appropriate and positive. The title of your comment should be your first name ONLY! I miss you! Mrs. Hyatt :)

To my Career Investigations Classes:  I've graded your Career Projects.  PLEASE check StudentVUE--if you do not have a grade, I've left a note.  A bunch of you submitted the wrong links and I cannot view your projects.   I've also begun grading your Advertisements.  If you've turned them in already, I've graded them and you've completed the last grade for me for this quarter!  If you'd like to redo them, you are welcome to--just resubmit when you update your work!  Otherwise, please remember that they're due 4/14.

PWCS SCHOOL BUILDINGS CLOSED TO STUDENTS THROUGH THE END OF SCHOOL YEAR By order of the Governor of Virginia, all Prince William County Public Schools will remain closed to students through the end of the 2019-2020 school year (June 2020), due to the health concerns caused by COVID-19 (coronavirus).  The state will waive the days missed and will not require the days missed be made up. Guidance is expected to come from the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) later this week regarding graduation requirements, credits, and the impact of this decision on learning, including special education. The stateis in the process of waiving Standards of Learning (SOL) this year. Once the waiver is received, we will provide an update. PWCS is also waiting on further guidance on other standard assessments and school accreditation.  PWCS will review this guidance, as well as information from the federal Department of Education, to determine the impact to PWCS and necessary changes. PWCS will share additional information on these topics, and other questions in the coming days, as soon as possible.   We know students, staff, and parents will have many questions and we thank you for your patience as we adjust to these changes as rapidly as possible.

Happy Monday!      I miss you all already, and I wanted to make sure you are all working hard, spending time with the family, and staying healthy.  We have a lot to talk about when we get back to school!  I have added files, links, and suggestions to my calendar to help while you are at home.  Remember I expect you to read for 20 minutes a day.  I have assigned books on Raz Kids and you still have access to the rest of the library of Raz kids.  I will be adding things like vocabulary packets (we have been doing for a while so you know what to do).  I want everyone to practice their multiplication tables 0-11.  I will also post some word problems for you to work on - remember your CUBES strategy.   For writing, I was thinking you could keep a log/journal of how you are spending your time during this break.  Just a  few sentences each day would be great. Remember to check your CUPS!   When we return to school we will write about what we did and experiences we had over the time we were out of school.       For my science and social studies students, I have posted some review work of the last learning targets we have learned.  This is a review - but it will still be challenging.      Please remember to email me if you have any questions.  I am checking my email often.  Please stay safe and enjoy this time with your family. This will be on Teams as well. Here are the things we've worked on while I've had you this quarter, as well as your expectations going forward.   All due dates have been pushed to 4/14. Please let me know if you have any questions! Instructional Calendar.pdf

Good morning, everyone!   I've been posting updates on Teams, and still recommend that you (students) use Teams for in-depth information and access to materials.  Here's what I had to say for my latest update: Hey, guys!  Things have changed a lot since I added that information for you guys.   Here's what the county says about school work: "Any work assigned during this school closing is optional and for review." "All student work due dates have been extended until at least April 14" "The third quarter grading period will be extended until at least April 17; this may be extended as the situation evolves." Since you guys were assigned your projects before the break, that's all I'm requiring of you. I will have no new assignments for you.  If you're having trouble completing something with the resources I provided you, please reach out.  We'll work something out! As always, make good choices while you're out!
