The Gainesville wrestling team closed out its 2018 regular season with a thrilling 47-35 dual meet victory over Reagan.  The meet came down to the very last match, with Donovan Sprouse clinching the victory by pinning his opponent early in the second period.  The meet started on a rough note for the Hawks, coming away with one win, courtesy of Wyatt Carter,  in the first five weight classes.  After that, Gainesville started firing on all cylinders.  Austin Zehring ran his season record to 6-0 by winning a hard fought match.  Josh Cilla came out on the positive end of a back-and-forth match that had to be settled in overtime.  Nic Miozzi followed up with a pinfall victory, taking his record to 5-0.  Vincenzo Corvetto then put the Hawks ahead for good by pinning his opponent, taking his season record to 7-0.  Ryland Harris also goes into the regional tournament with a perfect record (6-0) as he scored his way to a technical fall.  Cole Caparella (pinfall) and AJ Waskow also added victories for Gainesville before Sprouse put the meet to bed with his win.  The wrestling Hawks now go into the regional tournament with a dual meet record of 5-2 and a lot of wrestlers aiming for a high place on the podium.  The Western Regional Wrestling Tournament is one week away, on Saturday March 10 at Manassas Park High School.  Wrestling will start at 9:00, come on out and support the boys as they go for the championship.
